Laredo Sports Medicine Clinic and Power PT are proud to announce our spotlight athlete for January 2015…Isidro R. Alaniz, Jr.!

Isidro R. Alaniz, Jr. is a well rounded 18 year old who not only excels in the sports world, he excels in the academic world as well. A United High School student who graduates this coming May, he has made the most out of his time in high school. His contributions on the field and in the classroom, as well as his community service spirit are the reasons why he was selected as LSMC’s spotlight athlete for the month of January 2015.

Isidro currently attends United High School where he is a standout varsity football player and a member of the varsity track team. Isidro’s athletic career began during his freshman year where he started in J.V. football as a running back. Additionally, he excelled on the basketball court as a forward for the United Longhorn basketball team. Having already excelled in two sports, he joined the varsity track team in 2012 and is currently training to run the 400m and mile relays this Spring track season.

During his senior year, he was selected as captain of his varsity football team and has received high-praise as a member of the All-State Academic First Team. Isidro also received the prestigious honor of being a All-City First Team Running Back, All-District First Team Running Back, and All-District First Team Academic Honors.

Isidro is currently attending the Engineering Magnet Program and is actively involved in the National Honor Society. He has previously attended the 39th Annual Summer Leaders Experience at the United States Military Academy at West Point and the 11th Annual Manuel Gallegos Young Men’s Leadership Conference.

Whenever Isidro is not busy with academics or sports, he donates his time to good causes around the Laredo community. His most recent community service was with the Webb County Freedom Riders where he helped start the Equine Program. He participated in over 100 hours in equine therapy for children that included instruction on horse grooming, care, riding, and horse behavior.

Whether he’s scoring points on the field or hitting the books, Isidro is always driving himself toward success. LSMC recognizes Isidro as a model student athlete. We are proud to congratulate as our inaugural spotlight athlete of the month. We look forward to Isidro’s future endeavors. Congratulations, Isidro R. Alaniz, Jr.!
